Planet Zoo 2 Biomes: Which Animals Live Where

The Planet Zoo 2 Zoopedia sorts its animals into twelve biomes. Grassland has the most (45 animals) and Mangrove and Tundra the fewest (9 each). Pick a few animals below to see the biomes they have in common.

Last updated Game version: Pre-launch (official Zoopedia, October 2026)

Shared biome finder

Choose up to six animals. The finder shows every biome the official Zoopedia lists for all of them, and the continents they share.

Biomes all 3 share: Grassland.

  • Plains Zebra: Grassland
  • Masai Giraffe: Grassland
  • Common Ostrich: Grassland

A shared biome is not the same as being able to share a habitat. The game's own Zoopedia says which species can live together; we add those lists once they are confirmed in the released game.

Animals per biome

68 animals list more than one biome, so the column adds up to more than 130.

What a biome is in Planet Zoo 2

Every animal's Zoopedia entry names one or more biomes: the kinds of wild landscape or water the species comes from, such as Grassland, Tropical and Reef. The same twelve biomes are the Biome filter of Frontier's online Zoopedia, which is where this page takes them from. Frontier says you build zoos across multiple biomes; how a biome affects plants, terrain and temperature inside your habitats is something we will confirm in the released game and add here. Wildlife Reserves have Ecosystems of their own, set by where each reserve is; the Wildlife Reserves guide explains how they work. To sort the same animals by where they live in the wild, see animals by continent.

Land, water and air animals can share a biome: the Wetlands biome, for example, has terrestrial, flying, aquarium and exhibit animals. Sharing a biome does not mean two species can live in the same habitat; the in-game Zoopedia says which ones can, and we add those lists once they are confirmed. For the animals of each habitat type, see the aquatic animals, flying animals and exhibit animals lists, or all Planet Zoo 2 animals on one page.
