What Frontier is fixing next

On 20 October 2026 Frontier opened an Under Investigation page that highlights key issues from its issue tracker that the team is fixing. Its first list has 22 fixes being tested for the next update: 4 in crashes and graphics, 4 in saves and settings, 4 in franchise and online, 6 in animals and exhibits and 4 in building and money. Frontier stresses that these are not final patch notes and not everything the team is working on, and it gave no release date.

Two of them change how the game plays rather than just fixing it. Franchise accreditation will move more species into the lower tiers and make tiers 3 to 5 easier to reach; our Planet Zoo 2 accreditation tiers page will change the day the update ships. And the fix for zoos sinking into very large debt comes with a plan to reset the balance of zoos that are in debt.

Protect your saves

The autosave timer resets each time you enter the Planet Hub, so a long session can pass with no autosave at all. Until the fix arrives, Frontier recommends:

Franchise and connection problems

Franchise stability is at the top of Frontier's list. Update 1.0.5 made loading a Franchise zoo more stable and gave the login more time before it times out, and Frontier has added server capacity. Two things are on your side: Frontier says a VPN can cause connection problems in Franchise, and some usernames are being caught by its name filter, which can show up as a server connection error. If that happens to you, Frontier asks you to raise a ticket with its support team. More on the mode is in our Planet Zoo 2 Franchise mode guide.

Animal behaviour

Since launch Frontier has kept the same 4 animal problems on its ongoing list: climbing, jumping and pouncing, animals not lining up with enrichment items, escapes during some behaviours, and animals being boxed more often than they should. Update 1.0.4 improved navigation so animals are boxed less, and the next update should box them less while you edit their habitat or aquarium.

How to report a bug

Report anything not on this list on the Frontier issue tracker, with the mode, what you were doing and what went wrong. The Under Investigation page is drawn from the issues reported there. If the game will not start or runs slowly, compare your PC with the Planet Zoo 2 system requirements first.

The 17 fixed issues above are a selection of the ones players were most likely to meet. Every change, update by update, is on our Planet Zoo 2 updates page.

Planet Zoo 2 bug questions

Does Planet Zoo 2 have bugs?

Yes. In its Update 1.0.5 post Frontier apologised that stability had been below what it expected, and on 20 October 2026 it listed 22 issues with fixes in testing for the next update, from crashes and saves to animal behaviour and Franchise.

How do you report a bug in Planet Zoo 2?

On Frontier's issue tracker for Planet Zoo 2. Frontier asks players to report issues there so its team can investigate them, and its Under Investigation page highlights key issues from the tracker that the team is fixing.

Why does Planet Zoo 2 keep crashing?

Frontier has named several crashes it is fixing, including one when multi-selecting grid pieces, one when releasing animals into a Franchise Wildlife Reserve and one when picking a recent colour in the Flexicolour menu. If yours is not on the list, check your PC against the system requirements and report the crash on the issue tracker.

Why is my autosave not working in Planet Zoo 2?

Frontier says the autosave timer resets every time you enter the Planet Hub, so the autosave may never run. A fix is in testing. Until then, save by hand often and load your games from My Saves on the main menu so you do not overwrite an autosave.

When will Frontier fix these Planet Zoo 2 bugs?

Frontier says the fixes in its 20 October 2026 list are being tested for the next update, but it gave no date and says the list is not final patch notes. Fixes that are already out came in Updates 1.0.4 and 1.0.5.
